About · Dr. Allison House

Twenty-four years of looking at the whole picture.

She started with $75, $250,000 in student debt, and a belief that dentistry should look at the whole person, not just the tooth that hurts.

Twenty-four years later, that belief built House Dental.

01 Her Story

A solo practice, built
on purpose.

Dr. House opened House Dental in Phoenix's Arcadia neighborhood with almost nothing in the bank — and a quarter-million dollars in student loans. She chose solo practice on purpose.

She wanted to build something where she could slow down, ask the hard questions, and give every patient the time their situation actually required. She earned her DMD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and holds a BS in Mathematics and Chemistry from Northern Arizona University. The math and science background shaped how she thinks about dentistry. Systematically. Precisely. Always looking for the pattern underneath the symptom.

Over 24 years, she built House Dental into something most dental practices are not structured to be. She chose depth over volume. She chose two-hour first visits over thirty-minute checkups. She chose to invest in technology — cone beam CT, CEREC same-day crowns, 3D printers, digital scanning — instead of marble walls.

She is a solo practitioner by design. Not because she could not grow. Because growing would mean seeing more patients in less time. And less time is where problems get missed.

Why I became this kind of dentist.

02 Her Philosophy

Before we treat anything,
we want to understand
everything.

Dr. House practices what she calls diagnostic-first dentistry. That means collecting all the data, reviewing the full medical history, and sitting down to talk — really talk — about what is going on.

I talk about mental health. Are you not sleeping? I really talk about the whole picture.
— Dr. Allison House

That is not a tagline. It is what actually happens during your first visit. She asks about your medications. Your diet. Your sleep. Your stress. She checks your blood pressure. She looks at how your teeth, your jaw, your gums, and your bite all work together. Because they do work together, whether anyone has explained that to you before or not.

Her two-hour first visit is not a scheduling quirk. It is a philosophy. She refuses to skip steps because she has seen what happens when steps get skipped. Crowns that fail. Jaw pain that nobody can explain. Teeth that keep breaking for reasons no one has investigated.

I don't want 100 patients a month, ever. I want patients that come in, that want my services.
— Dr. Allison House

She teaches ethics at dental schools across the country. Not marketing, not technique. Ethics. How to tell a patient the truth. How to recommend only what is medically necessary. How to look deeper even when the easier path is to treat what is on the surface.

That is the kind of dentist she is. The kind who would rather spend an hour understanding your situation than ten minutes patching the symptom.

When my own dentistry failed.

04 The Whole-Body Connection

Your mouth is the
beginning of your
digestive system.

Every bite you take converts into cells. Every seven years, your body rebuilds itself from the food you eat. If your teeth do not work, that changes your entire health.

Food is medicine, and you can't eat it if your teeth don't work.
— Dr. Allison House

She connects dots that most dental practices are not structured to see. Weight changes, medication side effects, sleep disruption, blood pressure. These are not things that show up on a dental chart. They show up when someone takes the time to ask.

That is why she asks. Every visit.

A stroke left one tooth drifting for four months. Here’s how she solved it.

05 Why House Dental

If you're comparing
dentists, this is what
you should know.

The right fit matters, especially for complex dental situations. Here is how Dr. House is structured differently than most practices — and who that matters for.

i.

"I've been to other dentists and they couldn't solve it."

Dr. House specializes in the cases that other practices are not structured to handle. TMJ disorders, teeth that keep breaking, crowns that will not stay on, jaw pain that nobody can explain. Her diagnostic-first approach finds what others may not have had time to uncover.

ii.

"I'm nervous about being upsold."

Dr. House teaches ethics at dental schools. She only recommends what is medically necessary. She will explain why, show you the data, and give you time to decide. If she does not think you need something, she will tell you.

iii.

"I just want someone to actually listen."

Your first visit is two hours. Not because treatment takes that long, but because understanding your situation takes that long. By the end of that first hour, she has a full picture of who you are and what matters to you.

iv.

"I've heard implants and dentures are expensive."

They can be. Dr. House builds staged treatment plans so you do not have to do everything at once. Financing is available through Proceed and CareCredit. House Dental also accepts CIGNA and Aetna.
